Librería Lello - ola!
A highlight of my mum and sister’s recent visit to Europe was a chance encounter with an amazing bookshop in Porto, Portugal, called Lello. I was gobsmacked by their photos…
I would love to visit this shop, can’t get over the beautiful art deco decorations, the red
staircase, the rails for the book cart… Sigh!
Also came across this great blog, the Bookstore Guide - ‘an amateur guide to book shopping throughout Europe’. What a fantastic concept for a blog!
Perfect for any booklovers travelling to European cities, you can search by city - big and small. (Although can’t say many of these bookshops look pram-friendly!) Their post describes the place and history of Lello in some detail.

Fantastic, I’d love to go!
Now, have you heard of “The Library Hotel” in New York? Here’s the concept described on their website:
The Library Hotel in New York City is the first hotel ever to offer its guest over 6,000 volumes of books organized throughout the hotel by the Dewey Decimal System.* Each of the 10 guestroom floors honor one of the 10 categories of the DDC and each of the 60 rooms are uniquely adorned with a collection of books and art exploring a distinctive topic within the category it belongs to.
Isn’t this a dream? A hotel room filled with books!
There is also a “Writers Den” and a “Poetry Garden”… I’m sure Katie could copy and paste a few pictures. In the meantime, you can visit visit http://www.libraryhotel.com/index.shtml
Dream on!
