Hi Victoria!
I was pleasantly surprised by how affordable Japan was. The food in particular was very good value. We ate a lot more cheaply than we would for the equivalent in Australia, and it was always of a very good quality. Accommodation was about the same price as it would be in Australia for the equivalent standard. Shopping was generally cheaper than I expected, although clothes seemed expensive. But yes, resistance is difficult! I think at the moment the Aussie dollar is faring well against the Yen, although we met US tourists who weren't so happy... It was our first visit and I can't rave on enough about Japan - I think it's an excellent place to travel, especially with kids.
Thanks for your comment!

Is it really expensive to shop in Japan? It's somewhere Geoff and I have wanted to go for so long and are debating a trip with the girls. He's already been (without me!), but I worry it would be cost prohibitive, especially with all the irresistible shopping.
