Today Jane read to Rowan when it was time for him to go to sleep after lunch. He then read to her a version of 'Little Bat' - one of my favourites in Rowan's small library at Nanou and Duppa's house. It was 'extra special clever' because he could read it upside down! This is such a wonderful age (2 years 2 months) - this morning he was also cooking in one of my large vases. The ingredients included bottle tops, tennis balls and his crocs! These came out as 'hot ice creams' - we pretended to lick them and Mia (the dog) really did!

Finn totally freaked out his grandparents and aunt and uncle by "reading" the Usborne Diggers Stencil Book to them a few months ago.

http://www.usborne.co.uk/catalogue/browse.asp?css=1&subject=A&subcat=ASB&id=2204

Its a big chunky card book with a page each on stone wall shearers (que?) excavators and the like, and apart from stumbling over the word "explosives" he managed to read the whole thing verbatim.
Hasn't done it for a while but the shocked look on their faces was truly priceless (and matched ours the first time he did it).
No fun now when I'm reading to him and try to change the story for my own entertainment - yes I'm talking about you Fireman Fergus - he remembers the correct order of words from the first reading if the likes the book enough.

I distinctly remember hearing Jane repeat "Each Peach, Pear, Plum" numerous times when she was first learning to read. I'm not sure if you guys have blogged about this book, but it's a great one!
