Where The Wild Things Are, the movie, has a release date of October 16 in the US. I’m wondering how different the film will be to the original that Spike Jonze wanted released.

Spike Jonze owns a skateboard company that are releasing skateboards decorated with charcters from the film.
In a Tweet today by Media Macaroni I learn’t of the movie version of Ramona and Beezus the hilarious early reader novels by Beverly Cleary. Selena Gomez, the next big thing from Disney, will play Beezus.
I am so excited and nervous for that movie to finally come out. My expectations are too high – Maurice Sendak and Spike Jonze are two of the great loves of my life. Dave Eggers is nothin’ to shake a stick at, either.

Oh I love Ramona. love her. I’m reading the books at the moment to my five year old. We’re up to Ramona and her Mother. They are such perfect books, not sure I want them to be a movie. It would be great if it was done right, but I suspect it will be updated and may lose some of its charm.
I have scarily high standards for Wild Things and expect to be disappointed with the secret hope that I will be pleasantly surprised.
I am looking forward to this coming out but worry it won’t be at all suitable for the young children who enjoy the book. It may have to be a DVD buy for later viewing at home.
