A Child's Day: An Alphabet of Play

New York collage artist Ida Pearle's first children's book is - quite simply - stunning. Her ability to convey the joy and action of childhood through paper, cut and glued by hand, is truly amazing.

This is an alphabet book with a difference - an imaginative, action-filled alphabet of verbs: think Act (dress up), Blow (a pinwheel) and Catch (some butterflies). There is so much room for readers to discuss and even try for themselves the activities prompted by Ida's beautiful illustrations.

This is one of those books that children will enjoy - especially as they first become interested in letters - and mums will absolutely treasure...
